Funding for apprenticeship training

The government has made funding available to help with the cost of apprenticeship training.

The amount depends on whether your business pays the apprenticeship levy.

If you do not pay the apprenticeship levy, the government will pay 95% up to the funding band maximum.  It will be paid directly to the training provider.  Your business will need to contribute the remaining 5% towards the cost of training and assessing your apprentice.

If you pay the apprenticeship levy, the government will an 10% of funding for training and assessing your apprentices.

You can also get £1,000 to support your apprentice in the workplace if they are:

  • 16 to 18 years old
  • 19 to 25 years old with an education, health and care plan
  • 19 to 25 years old and they used to be in care

These payments will be made in two instalments of £500 by your training provider.  The first payment will be after 90 days and the second after a year.  You can find out what you can use these payments for on the government's website.
